The Role:

The Group Accountant will report directly to a very experienced Head of Finance, and will be an integral member of the finance team with responsibility for many aspects of finance. The Group Accountant will also work closely with their CFO and wider finance team to improve processes and implement effective controls.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Take ownership of the month-end close process, coordinating key deliverables across Finance and the wider business to ensure accurate, timely reporting.
  • Own the integrity of the balance sheet by reviewing reconciliations, investigating complex reconciling items and driving timely resolution.
  • Play a leading role in the preparation and audit of statutory financial statements across the Group, including consolidated accounts
  • Provide technical accounting expertise by maintaining accounting policies
  • Prepare and review complex journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, intercompany and other technical accounting adjustments, maintaining a robust audit trail and best-in-class financial controls.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements, monitoring changes in the regulatory landscape and helping adapt reporting processes and controls to meet evolving obligations.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external advisers to support tax reporting
  • Drive finance transformation initiatives by leveraging automation and AI
  • Champion a strong financial control environment, continually enhancing processes, documentation and governance to support a scalable, best-in-class finance function.
  • Review and provide oversight of work produced by colleagues, offering guidance and coaching to maintain exceptional quality and consistency across the team.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate and optimise finance processes, delivering improvements that reduce risk, increase scalability and support the firm’s continued growth.
  • Partner with teams across the business on strategic projects, systems enhancements and new business initiatives, providing finance expertise to support commercial decision making.
Experience:
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in financial accounting or financial control
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to present to senior stakeholders
  • Incredibly ambitious with a desire to continue learning
  • Previous experience in fintech or financial services is preferred
